'New Mutant' Movie Gets Title, Start Date Is Unveiled

The title for the upcoming 'X-Men' spin-off has been unveiled along with the announcement that it will begin filming early next year in Montreal, Canada.

AceShowbiz - The title for 20th Century Fox's "The New Mutants" has been unwrapped. According to a new report from Omega Underground, the upcoming comic book adaptation will be titled "X-Men: The New Mutants", a previously-rumored title that's made the rounds on the internet.

The site has also revealed the production start date for the movie. It will kick off filming in Montreal, Canada next year in May. The news outlet adds if the pre-production goes well, it's possible that the filming will be shifted to April.

Josh Boone, who directed 2014's romantic drama "The Fault in Our Stars", will serve behind the camera for the movie, with a screenplay he co-writes with Knate Gwaltney. Plot details are still scarce, but the helmer has confirmed that the upcoming "X-Men" spin-off will feature the big bad Demon Bear as its primary villain.

The official cast list has yet to be announced by the studio. Nat Wolff was recently reported to take the role of Cannonball, the alter ego of Samuel Guthrie. Talented actresses Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy were previously also reported to be circling the roles of Rahne Sinclair a.k.a. Wolfsbane and Illyana Rasputin a.k.a. Magik respectively.
