The channel is developing a reboot of 1992's psychological thriller starring Jennifer Jason Leigh and Bridget Fonda.

AceShowbiz - NBC is developing a TV series based on 1992's movie "Single White Female", which was based on John Lutz's novel "SWF Seeks Same". The modern version will take place in San Fransisco instead of New York, The Hollywood Reporter has reported.

The new iteration follows the story of con-artist Hedra, played by Jennifer Jason Leigh in the cult classic movie, who uses her professional connections to target Allie, originally portrayed by Bridget Fonda, a seemingly moneyed colleague in search for a roommate. Hedra slowly begins to realize that her mark may not be quite as innocuous as she first seems. Soon, viewers will come to understand that Hedra may have met her match in Allie, making viewers question who is really being "single white female'd."

Eric Garcia serves as writer and executive producer of the reboot, which hails from Sony Pictures Television's TriStar banner. The original feature film was written by Don Roos and directed by Barbet Schroeder.

This is the latest in a long list of movie-to-TV adaptations. Already in the works this season are reboots of "The Honeymooners" (CBS), "Car Wash" (ABC), "Sneakers" (NBC), "Enemy of the State" (ABC), "Dynasty" (The CW), "War of the Worlds" (MTV), "Magnum P.I." (ABC), "The Lost Boys" (CW), "Varsity Blues" (CMT), "The Departed" (Amazon), "Let the Right One In" (TNT) and "L.A. Law" among others.
