Taran Killam has landed a role in Tony-winning musical "Hamilton". The 34-year-old actor is set to play King George III of Britain, taking over the role from Rory O' Malley beginning January 17, 2017.

The "Hamilton" role will mark Killam's Broadway debut, but he's no stranger to making musical performance. He was a student of Los Angeles County High School for the Arts and recently had a brief performance on the stage for "Little Shop of Horrors", which is an adaptation of musical comedy of the same title.

Other stars who have been recevently added to the "Hamilton" cast include Alysha Deslorieux as Peggy Schuyler/Maria Reynolds, J. Quinton Johnson as Hercules Mulligan, and Bryan Terrell Clark as George Washington.

"Hamilton" centers on the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of American founding fathers, and is mainly set in eighteenth century American Revolutionary War. It is one of many portrayals on Americans' struggle to gain independence from British Empire.

The musical stage is heavy of lyrics that speak volumes about each historical character. "I will fight the fight and win the war" is a glimpse of the lyrics sung by King George III despite the fact that Britain lost the war.

The show has scored many accolades, including Tony Award for Best Musical, Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical, Tony Award for Best Original Score, 2016 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album and 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.
