Tom Holland is in negotiations to take a male lead role in Lionsgate's thriller "Chaos Walking". The Hollywood Reporter brings the words that the British actor will join Daisy Ridley, who is already tapped to portray the female lead character in the adaptation of Patrick Ness' best-selling novel of the same name.

The story takes place in a world where all women have been killed by a germ and all living creatures can hear one another's thoughts in a stream of images, words and sounds simply called "noise." In the movie, Holland will play Todd Hewlitt, a boy who is forced to flee his town with his loyal dog before he discovers a girl named Viola (Ridley).

The upcoming big-screen adaptation will be helmed by Doug Liman, with a screenplay provided by Charlie Kaufman ("Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind") and Jamie Linden ("Money Monster"). Doug Davidson, who serves as a producer for Liman's "American Made" starring Tom Cruise, will produce the movie with Allison Shearmur ("Rogue One: A Star Wars Story").

Holland made his feature debut in 2012's "The Impossible", but his breakout performance came when he played Peter Parker a.k.a. Spider-Man in this year's "Captain America: Civil War". The 20-year-old actor recently signed on for a pivotal role opposite Benedict Cumberbatch and Michael Shannon in period drama "The Current War".
