AceShowbiz - After teasing fans with only black-and-white pictures in the past few weeks, 20th Century Fox has finally released the first full-color photo of the third and final "Wolverine" movie. Debuted via Empire, it shows Hugh Jackman as the beloved mutant Logan seemingly trying to save a handcuffed Laura Kinney/X-23 (Dafne Keen) from some serious danger.
Speaking with the outlet, director James Mangold teased the grim nature of the movie. "The goal was to make something human. We made an effort to scale back on the gloss and greenscreen," he says. "If you're on the make for a hyper choreographed, gravity defying, city-block destroying CG f**kathon, this ain't your movie."
Agreeing with Mangold, Jackman told the site that "it's essential you see this as as the story of a man who is struggling with mortality and legacy, and whether the world has been better off with him or without him."
Mangold directed "Logan" from a script written by Michael Green. Slated to hit U.S. theaters on March 3, 2017, it also sees the return of Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier a.k.a. Professor X. Other cast members include Boyd Holbrook, Stephen Merchant and Richard E. Grant, who will portray the villainous Donald Pierce, an albino mutant named Caliban and the head of Transigen respectively.
Set in the future of 2024, the movie follows Logan and Professor X who must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation led by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction, with Logan's healing abilities slowly fading away and Xavier's Alzheimer's forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of Laura Kinney.
