Who knew Justin Timberlake was capable of tearing up a young girl's heart? Mandy Moore stopped by "The Late Late Show with James Corden" on Tuesday, November 15 and recalled the one time the former NSYNC singer made a comment that really "scarred" her.
Moore's interaction with Timberlake happened when she was still 15 and served as an opening act on an NSYNC tour. "I'm a terrible dancer, but I had background dancers at the time because that's what you did," she told host James Corden. "And I remember distinctly one time walking backstage, and I didn't really see much of the guys because I was the measly opening act. Nobody cared about me."
"But Justin Timberlake was there and somehow there was a conversation about feet or foot size," she continued. "They were comparing shoe [size]. And all the background dancers and the NSYNC background dancers and my background dancers [were there], and I stroll up at 15, like, freaking out that Justin Timberlake is there."
But her excitement didn't last long. She ended up getting embarrassed after Timberlake, whom she really idolized at the time, mocked her feet. "He was like, 'You have big feet for a girl,' " she recalled him saying. "I'm sure he doesn't remember this at all but I was so impressionable, and I thought the world of him and he was on a pedestal. I mean, 16 years later it stuck with me, so it really scarred me emotionally."
While she found Timberlake's comment very hurtful, the size of her feet wasn't her biggest problem as a young pop star. Moore later told Corden that she was so bad at dancing and she had to have background dancers to support her.
"I have no rhythm. I'm super awkward," the 32-year-old beauty shared. "I think the powers that be realized very early on, 'You know what, you should just have background dancers.' "
