British actress Holliday Grainger has landed a female lead role on BBC One's "Cormoran Strike" series. The 28-year-old star, who is best known for her portrayals of Lucrezia Borgia on Showtime's "The Borgias" and as Estella in 2012's "Great Expectations", has been cast as Robin Venetia Ellacott, Strike's assistant and secretary, on the TV adaptation of J.K. Rowling's bestselling crime novels written under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.
"I'm thrilled to be joining the talented creative team behind 'The Strike Series', especially with the role of Robin Ellacott," Grainger says, as quoted by Variety. "Her grounded strength and intelligence is going to be a joy to explore. I can't wait to dive straight into the wit and grit of Strike's cannily well-observed London."

Grainger will star opposite Tom Burke ("War and Peace", "The Musketeers") who will portray Strike, a war veteran turned private detective operating out of a tiny office in London's Denmark Street. Strike initially hires Robin as a temporary secretary, but she soon becomes involved with his caseload and begins to see her true potential.
The limited series comprises of three separate parts based on the three books, comprising of three hour-long episodes of "The Cuckoo's Calling", two hour-long episodes of "The Silkworm" and two hour-long episodes of "Career of Evil".
Filming will start in November across London. HBO has acquired the U.S. and Canadian rights.
