"Knight Rider" is being revived by Machinima. Based on the classic series about a crime rider assisted by an artificially-intelligent high-tech car, the project will head to digital platform instead of coming to traditional TV. It's produced by Justin Lin ("Fast and Furious").

"Knight Rider isan iconic franchise whose concepts of AI and autonomous vehicles were science-fiction in the 1980s and are now science fact," Machinima CEO Chad Gutstein said. "Justin is one of the leading storytellers of his generation and we couldn't be more excited to work with him on re-invigorating Knight Rider for a new generation of fans."

The original 1980s series was led by David Hasselhoff. It got a movie sequel in 1991, a TV-movie remake in 1994, a TV spinoff in 1997, and a TV revival in 2008 focusing on the son of Hasselhoff's Michael Knight. In 2014, another reboot was rumored to be in the works with Chris Pratt eyed to take the lead role.
