Ryan Reynolds Paid 'Deadpool' Screenwriters With His Own Money
Movie

Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese reveal how the Merc with a Mouth depicter took matters into his own hands when Fox declined to pay them.

AceShowbiz - Ryan Reynolds used his own money to pay "Deadpool" screenwriters. The actor wanted the scribes, Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese, on the movie set whenever they were filming and he made sure they were financially taken care of when 21st Century Fox refused to pay them.

"We were on set every day. Interestingly, Ryan wanted us there, we were on the project for six years. It was really a core creative team of us, Ryan, and the director Tim Miller. Fox, interestingly, wouldn't pay for us to be on set. Ryan Reynolds paid out of his own money, out of his own pocket," the duo revealed during an interview on AMC's "Geeking Out".

"Deadpool" got much lower budget compared to other superhero flicks, but it went on to become a big moneymaker for the studio. A sequel is inevitable. No release date is set for "Deadpool 2", but Reynolds, Miller, Wernick and Reese are confirmed to return.
