Demi Lovato Sued by Sleigh Bells for Copyright Infringement

Demi Lovato is facing a copyright lawsuit fromcSleigh Bells%. The Indie-rock duo claims in their suit that similarities between their 2010 song "Infinity Guitars" and Demi's 2015 track "Stars" "transcend the realm of coincidence."

In the complaint filed Monday, August 22 in California federal court, Sleigh Bells members Alexis Krauss and Derek Miller names Demi, UMG Recordings and producers Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub as defendants.

"A comparison of the two songs reveals that, at the very least, the combination of the hand claps and bass drum, structured as 3 quarter beats and a rest, with the bass drum providing a counter-rhythm to the hand claps, is at least substantially similar in both works," reads the complaint, "This infringing material repeats throughout the Defendants' song."

According to the complaint, "signal decay and other sonic signatures" between "Infinity Guitars" and "Stars" reveals "virtually identical content" and "transcend the realm of coincidence."

Demi's rep hasn't commented on the issue yet.

Back in 2015, producers of Demi's "Stars" denied sampling Sleigh Bells' music. "We did not use any samples in Demi Lovato's song 'Stars'," said the producers in the statement, "Demi was also not involved with the production. She only wrote top line."

In other news, an unreleased track from Demi's 2013 album "Demi" has surfaced online. titled "Too Much Love", the never-before-heard track is produced by Carl Falk, Rami Yacoub and Savan Kotecha, the hitmakers behind "Really Don't Care" and "Shouldn't Come Back".
