"Hands of Stone" debuts a restricted trailer. It teases the big fight between Usher's Sugar Ray Leonard and Edgar Ramirez's Roberto Duran, and gives a sneak peek at the two boxers' personal lives. The singer strips down for a steamy love scene.
Usher also releases a song called "Champions" recorded for the biopic. "I wanted it to represent two icons standing toe-to-toe fighting for their countries," he told Billboard. "There's such a relationship that happens within that ring ... between Sugar Ray Leonard and Roberto Duran. And I wanted to capture that. I wanted Ruben Blades' interpretation of it to be as pure so he wrote his part and the dialect to go between Spanish and English. I wanted it to be as authentic as possible to offer some hope."
The movie will arrive August 26. It follows the life of Roberto Duran, the Panamanian fighter who made his professional debut in 1968 as a 16 year-old and retired in 2002 at the age of 50. In June 1980, he defeated Sugar Ray Leonard to capture the WBC welterweight title, but shocked the boxing world by returning to his corner in their November rematch, famously saying the words "no mas" (no more.)
