Delta Airlines Blasted for Omitting Same-Sex Kissing Scenes From 'Carol'
Movie

The controversy has spread on social media after comedian Cameron Esposito tweeted about the missing same-sex kisses from the Oscar-nominated film she watched on her recent Delta flight.

AceShowbiz - Oscar-nominated movie "Carol" was shown in Delta Airlines, but some of the passengers were upset to discover that some key scenes were omitted from the edited version of the film. Not only the sex scenes between Cate Blanchett and Rooney Mara were censored in the edited version, but the scenes of the two main characters kissing had also been omitted.

The controversy has spread on social media after comedian Cameron Esposito was disappointed and tweeted about the missing same-sex kisses from the film she watched on her recent Delta flight. She also noted that a fellow passenger was watching an episode of "Billions" which showed BDSM sex scenes between Paul Giamatti and Maggie Siff.

"Carol" scribe Phyllis Nagy pointed out that not all airlines use the edited version of the film. Others decide to show the full theatrical version which suits their viewers the best. He also responded to fans' tweets, "@trishbendix @Delta yup. Makes zero sense without the intimacy."

Delta, however, claimed that the censorship wasn't their responsibility because the two versions of the film were provided by The Weinstein Company. The full theatrical version is not allowed on Delta in-flight entertainment because it contained nudity. They solely chose the edited version because it didn't contain nudity - the sex scenes as well as the kissing scenes were omitted.

Delta spokesperson Liz Savadelis told New York Daily News, "If we were worried about kissing we wouldn't be showing the film in the first place, but because there are scenes with more than a few seconds of nudity, we opted for the edited version instead of the theatrical version." The studio didn't give any comment regarding the controversy.
