"Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" panel was one of the biggest attractions at the 2016 San Diego Comic-Con on Thursday, July 21. Luc Besson showed first footage of the upcoming sci-fi film in the Hall H panel which was attended by 6.000 panelgoers.

The seven-minute video featured a series of concept drawings and scenes from the film which is based on French graphic novel titled "Valerian and Laureline" by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mezierez. Though it was very raw, it got standing ovation from the attendees.

The first scene showed Valerian (Dane Dehaan) running through a passageway and communicating with a disembodied voice which could be assumed as his partner Laureline (Cara Delevingne). She could be seen in the next scene being marched down a hallway by two big dudes. The third scene featured Laureline piloting a ship flying toward a planet, with Valerian sitting next to her.

Valerian was seen walking through a red light district on an unnamed planet in the next scene. Meanwhile, he and Laurine could be seen walking toward some sort of protective wall when a sand creature began chasing after them on the desert planet. There were also quick cuts showing aliens and Clive Owen in the end of the footage.

Besson also shared on Facebook a new image of "Valerian". It gives a close look at the titular character. He can be seen sitting on a driver seat and taking control of what seems to be a spaceship.

"Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets" revolves around a time-traveling agent named Valerian who is sent to investigate a galactic empire, along with his partner Laureline. The film also stars Rihanna, Ethan Hawke, John Goodman and Herbie Hancock. The sci-fi film is due out July 21, 2017 in U.S. theaters.
