Stephen Amell keeps the anticipation high for the fall return of "Arrow" by teasing fans about what to expect from the fifth season. During a recent Facebook Live chat, the actor hinted at the return of a mysterious character and a "meaner" season 5.

The Oliver Queen depicter promised that "someone that we haven't seen in two full seasons" would appear in the next installment. Amell also said that Black Canary's presence would still be felt on the show despite the character's demise in the fourth season. "The idea of Black Canary and what it means and what it embodies in Star City is something we are going to examine this year," he said.

The Canadian hunk further dished on the tone of the fifth season, saying, "If [the premiere] is any indication, 'Arrow' is going to be f**king mean this year." He added, "Episode 501 of 'Arrow' has an opportunity for us to quite literally have the most vicious, violent oner shot, which is where there is no cut, in the history of network television." Amell said he insisted that he's doing the action in the season premiere himself and he would go shirtless for the scene.

Amell later clarified that the tone would not be " 'evil,' just meaner."

As if those new details he shared were not interesting enough, the 35-year-old actor revealed Arrow would get a new suit this year, or "a slightly-modified version."

Addressing the Flashpoint storyline on "The Flash" season 3, Amell said the Flashpoint "certainly could" affect "Arrow".

"Arrow" season 5 kicks off Wednesday, October 5 at 8/7c on The CW.
