Movie

The 'Now You See Me 2' director is in negotiations to tackle the 2008 Tony-winning Broadway show for the big screen.

Jon M. Chu is in talks to sit behind the lens for the big screen version of Lin-Manuel Miranda's Pulitzer-nominated play "In the Heights". Kenny Ortega was originally attached to direct the adaptation of the Broadway show when it was set up at Universal but he left due to budget issues.

Set in Manhattan's Dominican neighborhood, "In the Heights" won multiple Tony Awards back in 2008 and a Golden Gramophone at the Grammys. It's unclear if Miranda who played the lead role on the stage show will return for the upcoming film, but the "Hamilton" star is confirmed to be involved as a producer for the project.

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes, who wrote the book for the original play, is tapped to pen the script for Weinstein Co.
