AceShowbiz - "Tetris" movie was first announced in 2014 and now the details are revealed. Speaking at the Cannes International Film Festival, producer Larry Kasanoff reveals a plan to develop a science fiction franchise based on the classic popular video game.
"Tetris" will be adapted into a live-action movie. It is scheduled to start filming in China and other locations in 2017. Envisioned as a sci-fi thriller, the project has secured $80 million in financing. The feature film is expected to be the first installment of a trilogy.
The flick will be a U.S. and Chinese co-production between Kasanoff's Threshold Entertainment and Bruno Wu's Seven Star Works. It follows other video game-inspired movies like "Resident Evil", "Tomb Raider", "Mortal Kombat", "Angry Birds" as well as the upcoming "Warcraft" and "Assassin's Creed". Kasanoff previously produced two "Mortal Kombat" movies.
