The official trailer for "Assassin's Creed" is finally out. After much anticipation, fans get to see Michael Fassbender in action as Callum Lynch via the trailer that's premiered during the Wednesday night, May 11 episode of "Jimmy Kimmel Live!".

The 2-minute video shows Callum being abducted and forced to alter the genetic memories left by his ancestor who's been dead for 500 years. He's then sent back to the Spanish Inquisition thanks to a technology called the Animus.

"Assassin's Creed" is slated to be released worldwide on December 21. The movie is set in the same world as Ubisoft's "Assassin's Creed" video games, but is not a direct adaptation. Directed by Justin Kurzel, it also stars Marion Cotillard, Michael K. Williams, Ariane Labed and Jeremy Irons.

There are plans to expand the film into a trilogy if the first installment is successful. The second film has reportedly started its production and will see Fassbender returning as Callum.
