Simon Pegg is wanted for Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow's "Ready Player One". The Hollywod Reporter says that the actor is currently in negotiations to star in the sci-fi film as OASIS creator Orgen Morrow who's better known by his avatar, the Great and Powerful Og.

Based on Ernest Cline's book of the same name, the movie is set in a near future and centers on Tye Sheridan's Wade Watts, a poor orphan from the "stacks" surrounding metropolitan Oklahoma who as Parzival joins a virtual world called OASIS. He finds himself competing against ruthless foes for a big prize offered by the game's creator when he dies.

The flick, scheduled for release in the U.S. on March 30, 2018, has also cast Olivia Cooke and Ben Mendelsohn as the female lead Art3mis and the villainous Nolan Sorrento respectively. In addition to directing, Steven Spielberg is serving as producer alongside Donald De Line, Dan Farah and Kristie Macosko Krieger.

Simon Pegg last appeared in "Mission: Impossible Rogue Nation". He'll next be seen reprising his role as Chief Engineer Montgomery Scott in Justin Lin's "Star Trek Beyond" that's coming out on July 22.
