Madonna Denies She's 'Drunk or High' During Concert
Music

Madge explains that she was just pretending to be drunk at the concert in Melbourne and says that the accusations are sexist.

Madonna wasn't drunk when she was playing a recent concert in Melbourne, despite reports claiming otherwise. After some concertgoers attending the "Tears of a Clown" show earlier this month slammed her for appearing to be under the influence on the stage, the singer took to Instagram on Monday, March 14 to clear the air.

Responding to a fan who defended her against the accusations, Madge first thanked him for supporting her and then explained that she was pretending to be drunk at the concert. "Too bad people don't know the art of acting and playing a character," she wrote. "I could never do any of my shows high or drunk."

She went on calling the drunk allegations sexist. "Underlying all of this is sexism and misogyny which proves that not only do we not get equal pay but we are still treated like heretics if we step out of line and think outside the box," she added. "Sexism is alive and kicking but i am #livingforlove."

During the free "Tears of a Clown" show last week, Madonna showed up on the stage four hours late while dressed as a clown. She's reportedly drinking vodka and taking shots from a flask in between songs, and then ranted about her ex-husband Guy Ritchie, whom she's currently in a custody battle with over their son Rocco. At one point, she launched into "Intervention" and dedicated the song to the 15-year-old boy.
