Casting News: Lizzy Caplan Joins Brad Pitt in Spy Thriller, Jake Johnson Boards 'Mummy' Reboot

Caplan is playing Pitt's sister in romantic thriller set during World War II, while Johnson is playing a military member in the Tom Cruise-starring movie.

AceShowbiz - Lizzy Caplan is cast in Robert Zemeckis' spy thriller which is yet to have a title. The "Masters of Sex" actress will star opposite Brad Pitt and Marion Cotillard in the joint project from Paramount Pictures, GK Films and New Regency.

Major plotline is still kept under wraps but it would be set in 1942 during the World War II. Pitt plays a spy who falls in love and marries a French agent, played by Cotillard, during a dangerous North African mission. According to Deadline, Caplan will play Pitt's sister. Steven Knight is writing the screenplay.

In other casting news, "New Girl" star Jake Johnson has signed up to star in "The Mummy" reboot. He would play a member of the military, a "role written specifically for him," THR reported. Tom Cruise is taking the lead role as a special forces soldier or former soldier.

"The Mummy" will kick off Universal Studios' cinematic monster universe that will include Frankenstein, Dracula and Van Helsing. The film is set to bow on June 9, 2017 in the States. It was just Monday, March 7 that Annabelle Wallis was reported to be in talks to star as the female lead, joining Sofia Boutella who plays the villain.
