Danny McBride Wanted for Ridley Scott's 'Alien: Covenant'
Movie

The 'Eastbound and Down' actor is in early talks to join Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston in the sci-fi film.

Danny McBride gets serious. The actor, known for his roles on the sitcom "Eastbound & Down" and in comedy film "Rock the Kasbah" among others, is now in early negotiations to join the cast of Ridley Scott's "Alien: Covenant", according to TheWrap.

The character McBride may play in the movie is still unknown. The sci-fi flick has confirmed that Michael Fassbender has been confirmed to reprise his "Prometheus" role in the sequel. Noomi Rapace, who played Elizabeth Shaw, will only make a brief appearance. Katherine Waterston has subsequently been hired as the new female lead.

"Covenant", set ten years after "Prometheus", will follow a colony ship bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. The crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world - whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David (Fassbender), survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Filming is scheduled to begin this April in Australia. The movie is hitting U.S. theaters on October 6, 2017.
