Justin Bieber has scored another No. 1 hit on Billboard Hot 100. The Canadian singer's "Love Yourself" jumps one rung to the top slot this week, replacing his other song "Sorry" that had ruled the chart for three consecutive weeks before slipping to No. 2.
This is no ordinary chart achievement. Bieber is only one of 12 other acts in the Hot 100's history to bump himself from No. 1. The most recent artists to do so were The Weeknd, whose "The Hills" replaced "Can't Feel My Face" last October, and Taylor Swift, whose "Blank Space" dethroned "Shake It Off" in 2014.
"Love Yourself" is the third single lifted off the Biebs' latest album "Purpose" to have landed at the chart's No. 1. The record's lead cut "What Do You Mean?" made its debut atop the list following its release last year.
The 21-year-old is now the first male act in about a decade to have three chart-toppers in one album. Ten years ago, Justin Timberlake ruled the list with "SexyBack", "My Love" featuring T.I. and "What Goes Around...Comes Around" from his 2006 effort, "Futuresex/Lovesounds".
Among all performers, Taylor Swift was the previous singer with three No. 1 songs in an album. In addition to "Shake It Off" and "Blank Space", she topped the chart with her other "1989" single "Bad Blood" featuring Kendrick Lamar.
