Movie

The origin story will re-imagine the villainess who is obsessed with turning the dalmatian puppies to fur coats.

AceShowbiz - Emma Stone is set as the successor of Glenn Close. The 27-year-old star is in early talks to portray "101 Dalmatians" villainess Cruella de Vil in Disney's live-action re-imagining of the character, "Cruella".

The film will be an origin story about the fashionable woman who is obsessed by the dalmatian puppies. In the original story, she kidnaps 97 of the 99 puppies that Mrs. Dearly owns to use their fur for coats. Close played the character in 1996 live-action film produced by John Hughes.

Disney is hoping to kick start the project as early as this year and is actively looking for a director, THR reports. Aline Brosh McKenna worked on the film's draft and "Fifty Shades of Grey" scribe Kelly Marcel is polishing it. "Freaky Friday" producer Andrew Gunn is producing while Kristin Burr and Jessica Virtue are overseeing for the studio.

Stone will appear in upcoming musical film "La La Land" opposite Ryan Gosling and will shoot "Battle of the Sexes" next.
