The ABC fantasy series has cast 'Ally McBeal' alum Greg Germann as Hades, who will make his debut 'right away' in the midseason premiere.

Following the midseason finale, it was confirmed that "Once Upon a Time" would go to the Underworld in the second half of the season to save Hook (Colin O'Donoghue). Now, a new villain whom Emma (Jennifer Morrison) and the gang will face in the Underworld has been revealed.

EW confirms speculation that Hades, the King of the underworld, will appear in the second half of the season, with "Ally McBeal" alum Greg Germann taking on the devilish role. "We're going to be meeting the 'Once Upon a Time' version of Hades in the second half of the season," says executive producer Adam Horowitz.

Horowitz adds, "While he is both inspired by a myth and by the Disney movie version, as we like to do, we're trying to create our own 'Once Upon a Time' spin. We can't wait for everyone to see what [Germann] does with the character."

Fortunately, fans won't have to wait too long to see Germann's version of Hades. He is set to make his debut "right away" in the midseason premiere, which will also be the 100th episode of the ABC fantasy drama series.

Executive producer Edward Kitsis further shares that Hades "absolutely has a surprising connection to one of our cast." He quickly adds though, "Before everyone runs to Twitter to give their opinions on it, he's not related to anyone, but there is a connection."

"Once Upon a Time" returns Sunday, March 6 at 8 P.M. ET on ABC. The show recently tapped Teri Reeves to play the all-grown-up Dorothy Gale.
