AceShowbiz - Jazz musician Herbie Hancock has been cast in Luc Besson's sci-fi flick "Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets". The French director personally announced the news on Instagram on Saturday, December 12 morning.
"Herbie Hancock is a legend. His music was my only friend at 14... I learn so much listening this genius... I'm proud to have him for a role in #Valerian," Besson captioned a pic of Hancock on Instagram. He did not provide further details.
Hancock will join previously-announced cast Dane DeHaan, Rihanna, Cara Delevingne and Ethan Hawke. DeHaan is playing the titular character, a space and time-traveling agent from a futuristic Earth who is accompanied by a femme sidekick named Laureline. Delevingne is playing the latter role.
