Those looking forward to catching up on the "Star Wars" franchise can tune in to ESPN's documentary "Star Wars: Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel". The special delves deep into the, well, history of lightsaber fights.

Hosted by Mark Hamill, the special explores the real-life inspiration behind the iconic Jedi sword, the fightings as well as the work necessary to create the on-screen lightsaber fights. Apart from showing footage from past "Star Wars" films, the teaser of the documentary revealed how the lightsaber fights would be handled in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".

"What people don't realize is how much goes into what appears to be just minutes on the screen," Hamill said in a statement about the show. "The elaborate choreography for the actual fight is done on several different sets over a period of weeks and then it is edited down to what you see on the screens, so I am happy people are able to see the amount of work that goes into it."

"Star Wars: Evolution of the Lightsaber Duel" will air on December 15, just three days before "The Force Awakens" hits the big screen. It would be particularly interesting because Hamill is part of the latest movie's cast but he has been absent from most of the pic's promotional events and efforts.
