Jared Leto Promises to Make Jack Nicholson and Heath Ledger 'Proud' as Joker

The 43-year-old actor uploaded a meme on Instagram that suggests he will make Nicholson and Ledger proud of his performance as Joker.

AceShowbiz - While many fans have been impressed with Jared Leto's transformation to portray a modern-day Joker in "Suicide Squad", the actor himself seems to think that he has to make more efforts to make his predecessors proud. Leto uploaded a meme on Instagram to tell fans that he wants to make Jack Nicholson and the late Heath Ledger proud.

In the picture, Nicholson's clown prince of crime holds the shoulders of Ledger's Joker who sits in a chair. "Don't Worry. Leto Will Make Us Proud," so read the words in the picture.

It's not surprising that Leto worries that he cannot satisfy fans or he cannot perform as good as Ledger and Nicholson. Ledger's performance as Joker in 2008's "The Dark Knight" earned him an Oscar and Nicholson's portrayal of the clown prince in 1989's "Batman" was critically acclaimed. However, Ledger wasn't given the chance to see how much fans loved his performance, since he died in January 2008 at the age of 29.

Although it remains to be seen whether Leto's performance will be great, many of his fans always support the actor. One of Instagram users wrote on the comment section, "I'm sure he'll play an awesome version of The Joker though."

Besides Leto, Will Smith, Jai Courtney, Joel Kinnaman, Viola Davis, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje, Adam Beach and Ike Barinholtz are in the cast of "Suicide Squad". Directed by David Ayer, the DC anti-hero movie is slated for a release in the U.S. on August 5, 2016.
