'Mad Max: Fury Road' Is Named Best Film by National Board of Review

The National Board of Review has named the action flick starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron as the best film of 2015.

AceShowbiz - "Mad Max: Fury Road" has been selected as the Best Film of 2015 by The National Board of Review. It was an unexpected victory for the action flick starring Tom Hardy and Charlize Theron who got favorable reviews when it premiered in May.

"The Martian" received three awards including Best Director for Ridley Scott, Best Actor for Matt Damon and Best Adapted Screenplay for Drew Goddard. Quentin Tarantino's "The Hateful Eight" landed Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress for Jennifer Jason Leigh.

Sylvester Stallone earned Best Supporting Actor for "Creed", while Brie Larson landed Best Actress for "Room". "Beasts of No Nation" received two awards, NBR Freedom of Expression Award and Best Performance for Abraham Attah.

The NBR winners were selected by about 120 film fans from New York, who casted their ballots via email or fax. The honorees are set to pick up their statues at the NBR dinner on January 5, 2016 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York with "Today" co-anchor Willie Geist returning as the host.
