Executive producer Steve Molaro confirms that Sheldon and Amy will finally consummate their relationship in an upcoming episode, which has been filmed in front of a live studio audience.

"The Big Bang Theory" fans will surely look forward to a December 17 episode of the long-running sitcom since it marks a big step in Sheldon and Amy's relationship. Executive producer Steve Molaro has announced that the two, who are currently still broken up, will finally have sex in the said outing.
"After over five years of dating, we felt the time was right for Sheldon and Amy to finally consummate their relationship," so Molaro says in a statement. "And we're so excited for the audience to see the journey over the next several episodes." The aforementioned episode was filmed Tuesday night, November 17 in front of a live studio audience in Burbank, California.
In the season 8 finale, Sheldon and Amy broke up just when he was ready to propose to her. Amy told Sheldon over Skype that she needed time alone. It's unclear when they will get back together.
Molaro previously said that producers planned to keep them apart "until the time feels right." He explained, "Right now, the dynamic has been fascinating and interesting. We're seeing all new colors for both of them as well as the way it impacts the group. There's not a set plan - we're feeling this out along in same way Amy is."
"The Big Bang Theory" airs Thursdays at 8 P.M. on CBS.
