Denzel Washington to Receive Cecil B. DeMille Award at 2016 Golden Globes

The 'Equalizer' actor will be feted at the 73rd annual Golden Globe Awards to be hosted by Rocky Gervais in January.

AceShowbiz - Denzel Washington is chosen as a special honoree at the 2016 Golden Globe Awards. "The Equalizer" actor is set to receive the Cecil B. DeMille Award on January 10 at the 73rd Golden Globes which will be hosted by Ricky Gervais.

"Washington's long and storied career is earmarked by his countless roles in front and behind the camera. It is the HFPA's privilege to honor his contributions to the entertainment industry with the Cecil B. DeMille Award," said Lorenzo Soria, president of the association.

The actor joins past Cecil B. DeMille Award recipients that include George Clooney, Woody Allen, Walt Disney, Jodie Foster, Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman, Robert De Niro.

Denzel Washington has been nominated for Golden Globe at least seven times. He won two for "Glory" and "The Hurricane". He also grabbed Oscars for "Glory" and "Training Day". He will next reunite with "Equalizer" helmer Antoine Fuqua for a remake of "The Magnificent Seven".
