Rihanna has landed a major role in Luc Besson's new movie. The singer is officially announced on Instagram by the "Lucy" director to star in "Valerian". "RIHANNA is in VALERIAN!!!!!" he enthused. "....and she has a big part!! I'm Sooo excited!!!"

The movie revolves around space- and time-travel adventures. RiRi who recently lent her voice to DreamWorks' animation "Home (2015)" will join previously-confirmed cast members Cara Delevingne, Dane DeHaan, and Clive Owen.

The movie is expected to start shooting soon for a planned 2017 release. It's adapted from a French science-fiction graphic novel. "I'm a big fan of [the comic book] since I'm 12 years old. Valerian and Laureline are two agents traveling through space and time. They will be played by Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne," Besson said.
