The fourth installment of 'The Expendables' movie franchise, which reportedly will have a budget over $100 million, is slated to start filming in 2016 for a 2017 release date.

AceShowbiz - It might be disappointing that "The Expendables 3" didn't perform quite well both at domestic or international box office, but it doesn't halt "The Expendables 4". The fourth installment of "The Expendables" movie series will start filming in 2016 for a 2017 release date, Variety has learned.

Nu Image/Millennium and Steven Paul's SP International Pictures on behalf of SSXH Beijing along with Max Screen Film Distribution have made a series of deals for the film. The deals include equity investments and provide Chinese distribution rights. The movie may use some locations in China for some scenes, though it is not expected to include Chinese elements.

It's also said that the movie will have a budget over $100 million. No directors or cast members have been announced just yet, but the movie is expected to retain the all-action-star trend seen in the previous three films.

Dr. Shi Jianxiang, chairman of Shanghai Kuailu Investment Group, which owns SSXH and Max Screen, and Steven Paul ("Ghost Rider", "Tekken") will be involved as executive producers.

Sylvester Stallone previously claimed that to give a PG-13 rating for the third film was not a good decision, despite the fact that the movie was meant to capture a wider audience. "Absolutely unequivocally yes. I believe it was a horrible miscalculation on everyone's part in trying to reach a wider audience, but in doing such, diminish the violence that the audience expects. I'm quite certain it won't happen again." Stallone said.
