How Damon is living his life without Elena is previewed in a new clip from "The Vampire Diaries" season 7 premiere. Making its way out via The Hollywood Reporter, the video shows the older Salvatore spending time with Alaric who is also mourning his lost love.
The two guys are drinking their way through Europe while Bonnie keeps tabs on them. In the clip, Damon and Alaric are still having a bad hangover and can't remember where they are or what they drank last night.
Previously, Ian Somerhalder shared a short promo video showing Damon naked. There's also a shot of Damon waking up in a coffin before declaring, "I'm back," and Stefan and Caroline kissing.
Last month, executive producer Caroline Dries said of Damon, "He is not ready to hook up; let's be clear about that! He is drinking and having a wild time, but he is wildly affected by the loss of Elena. He's never going to not be about Elena, so this first chapter is life after Elena. He's trying to struggle with, how do I do right by Elena and still be myself?"
The CW's president Mike Pedowitz once said the show would always be open for Nina Dobrev's (Elena) return, but the actress has nixed the possibility. "That chapter is closed, sadly - bittersweet," she recently told EW.
The new season of "The Vampire Diaries" premieres Thursday, October 8 at 8 P.M. ET on The CW.
