The network has ordered nine additional back-up scripts for the new drama starring Jaimie Alexander.

AceShowbiz - The future looks bright for "Blindspot". Following its premiere last week, the freshman drama has got additional script order from NBC. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the network has ordered nine additional back-up scripts for the Jaimie Alexander-starring thriller.

"Blindspot" debuted Monday, September 21 to 10.6 million total viewers and a 3.1 rating in the adults 18-49 demo. It has been a breakout drama for NBC so far this season, becoming Monday's most-watched drama and top new series after three days of delayed viewing.

Series creator Martin Gero recently described his show as a "procedural for people that don't like procedurals and a character drama for people that don't like character drama." He explained, "Our story of the week, so to speak, comes from one of Jane's tattoos and is close-ended and like a little action movie in and of itself. But then what's great about the show is that we're able to do a layered character drama on top of that."

Gero added, "Certainly, for me, especially when you're doing 22 [episodes] a year, sometimes you find out about something and you're like, 'oh man, I don't have 22 hours to catch up on the first season.' And so for us it's very important that the show has an entry point for anybody at any time." Still, "all of the cases are interconnected," Gero said.

As to the mystery behind Jane's tattoos, Gero said, "You could solve it yourself after having seen the pilot. No one has yet. I was like - it's some sort of prize for the person that can figure it out. I'd be so impressed. But you can piece these together yourself, and so it's really important for us as a collaboration between the writers, [Christian] Tinsley (cinematic tattoo specialist), and (David Kwong) that this all makes sense and it all has a flow to it."

"Blindspot" airs Mondays at 10 P.M.
