AceShowbiz - On Tuesday, September 22, "The Good Wife" actor %cAlan Cumming% was announced as the host of this year's Directors Guild of America Honors. The ninth event to honor filmmakers will be held at the DGA Theater in New York on October 15.
The guild's President Paris Barclay also revealed a few names scheduled to present the honors. %cLeonardo DiCaprio%, %cAlec Baldwin% and %cBryce Dallas Howard% are among the early line-up with more expected to be announced on a later date.
Bryce will honor her own father %cRon Howard%. The "A Beautiful Mind" director, who is also an actor, producer and writer, receives the award "for his countless contributions to American film and television". Meanwhile, multi-hyphenate %cTyler Perry% is recognized for his "contributions to film and television including the creation of a thriving ...production center in Atlanta currently employing hundreds."
Other recipients are renowned film editor Thelma Schoonmaker, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817 President Thomas J. O'Donnell and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.). Leonardo is honoring Schoonmaker who worked on the actor's "The Aviator" and "The Departed" among others. Baldwin will present to O'Donnell who is honored "for his labor rights efforts and his contributions to production in New York."
