DGA Honors Selects Alan Cumming to Host, Leonardo DiCaprio to Present

The guild's president announced Cumming as this year's Master of Ceremonies, DiCaprio as presenter along with Alec Baldwin and Bryce Dallas Howard.

AceShowbiz - On Tuesday, September 22, "The Good Wife" actor Alan Cumming was announced as the host of this year's Directors Guild of America Honors. The ninth event to honor filmmakers will be held at the DGA Theater in New York on October 15.

The guild's President Paris Barclay also revealed a few names scheduled to present the honors. Leonardo DiCaprio, Alec Baldwin and Bryce Dallas Howard are among the early line-up with more expected to be announced on a later date.

Bryce will honor her own father Ron Howard. The "A Beautiful Mind" director, who is also an actor, producer and writer, receives the award "for his countless contributions to American film and television". Meanwhile, multi-hyphenate Tyler Perry is recognized for his "contributions to film and television including the creation of a thriving ...production center in Atlanta currently employing hundreds."

Other recipients are renowned film editor Thelma Schoonmaker, Theatrical Teamsters Local 817 President Thomas J. O'Donnell and Sen. Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.). Leonardo is honoring Schoonmaker who worked on the actor's "The Aviator" and "The Departed" among others. Baldwin will present to O'Donnell who is honored "for his labor rights efforts and his contributions to production in New York."
