Not long after Travis and Madison got reunited on "Fear the Walking Dead", another of their family members is separated from them. Madison's son Nick, a drug addict, was taken to the government facility against his will. Meanwhile, Griselda goes to the facility to treat her injured foot.
While Madison will undoubtedly try to get her son back, being separated from her mom Griselda also causes Ofelia to have a major breakdown. In a clip for the next episode, she's seen screaming near the gate, prompting a soldier to pay attention to her and even try to calm her down.
"Cobalt" airs Sunday, September 27 at 9 P.M. on AMC. In the episode, the National Guard's plan for the neighborhood is revealed, while Travis and Madison make a difficult decision.
Showrunner Dave Erickson explains to The Hollywood Reporter why the National Guard executed people outside the walls. "It was a group of soldiers trying to do their job and met with some antagonism and resistance and, unfortunately, one thing led to another," he says. "In the final scene, it's a similar dynamic. A lot of the soldiers, there's suspicion if somebody is refusing to come inside the fences because they're probably sick, and therefore they're a threat."
Erickson also reveals why they take people who are sick, "They want to bring these people to a hospital and treat them because if they can keep them from dying then they won't turn. But, they can't have them with the regular population because if they did turn then, suddenly, Nick bites Madison and Madison bites Travis and then we don't have a show anymore (laughs)."
