Lady GaGa has released her fist new song of 2015. On Thursday, September 15, the Mother Monster officially dropped on iTunes "Till It Happens to You" which she recorded for the documentary "The Hunting Ground". The film, which centers on rape culture in college campuses across the U.S., debuted back in January.
The ballad was also shared online via GaGa's Vevo channel along with its accompanying music video. The five-minute clip opens with a warning of its "graphic content" before giving glimpses at some young women getting sexually assaulted and how their lives are affected by the attack.
"Till It Happens to You" was composed by Diane Warren. A portion of the song's sale proceeds will be donated to organizations helping survivors of sexual assault. Its visuals, meanwhile, was written and directed by Catherine Hardwicke who was behind movies like 2008's "Twilight" and 2003's "Thirteen".
"I hope that this PSA, with its raw and truthful portrayals, will send a clear message that we need to support these courageous survivors and end this epidemic plaguing our college campuses," Hardwicke said in a statement.
