AceShowbiz - Faith-based drama "War Room" has pushed three-time box office champion "Straight Outta Compton" out of its top spot. The Christian drama from Sony's Tristar/Affirm label jumped to No. 1 on its second weekend after pulling in an estimated $12.3 million during the long Labor Day weekend.
"War Room", which cost $3.5 million to make, tells a story of a woman who turns her closet into a "war room" in order to regain her spiritual footing in a quest to save her rocky marriage. If Labor Day estimates hold, the movie will get an estimated domestic total of nearly $28 million by the end of Monday.
"Straight Outta Compton" dropped 33 percent in ticket sales from last weekend, adding around $11.2 million for a domestic total of $150.2 million over the weekend. Overseas, the N.W.A. biopic earned another $7.9 million for a global total of $168.3 million.
Coming in the third place was "A Walk in the Woods" starring Robert Redford and Nick Nolte. The film from Board Green Pictures made approximately $10.35 million over the weekend. "Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation" landed on the fourth place with an estimated $9.25 million for a domestic total of $182.5 million. "The Transporter Refueled" came in a disappointing no. 5 after earning $8.7 million.
