Christina Applegate Is Rob Lowe's Ex on 'The Grinder'
TV

The 'Vacation' actress will guest star on FOX's new comedy series as Dean's (Lowe) old flame.

Christina Applegate is playing Kelly again, but not that character from "Married... with Children". The actress who rose to fame as Kelly Bundy on the 1980s-'90s sitcom is set to guest star on FOX's new series "The Grinder".

She will portray Kelly Summers, an old flame of Dean Sanderson's (Rob Lowe) from his high school days. Dean is an actor who headlined a legal drama who returns to Boise from Hollywood.

While the whole town is buzzing about Dean's return, Kelly is unimpressed. A self-proclaimed "more of a book girl," she says she doesn't have a TV and has never seen Dean's show also titled "The Grinder", which Dean finds appealing.

Applegate will appear in the fifth episode. The gig reunites the former "Up All Night" actress and Lowe after they co-starred in 2003's airplane comedy "View from the Top". Applegate guest starred in two episodes of "Web Therapy" earlier this year and starred opposite Ed Helms in "National Lampoon's Vacation" reboot "Vacation".

"The Grinder" premieres Tuesday, September 29 at 8:30 P.M. on FOX.
