Movie

The 'Elysium' actor suggests that the next Jason Bourne movie will deal with 'spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy.'

AceShowbiz - Matt Damon teases what to expect from the next Jason Bourne movie which will see him returning as the male lead and Paul Greengrass as the director. He hints as the exploration of national security, name-dropping Edward Snowden, the infamous whistleblower who revealed that NSA had used new technology to spy on the entire planet.

"Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world," Damon spilled to BuzzFeed. "It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."

Given the movie's political context, the actor suggested it would take place in the country currently struggling with financial crisis that is affecting the European economy. "We're starting in Greece, you know, the beginning of democracy," he said. "And the movie ends in Las Vegas, the most grotesque incarnation of ...," he trailed off with a laugh.

Tommy Lee Jones is expected to play a CIA superior officer. Alicia Vikander is also in talks to join the "Bourne 5" cast and Viggo Mortensen is rumored for a villainous role.
