Gabriel Chavarria Lands Lead Role in 'War of the Planet of the Apes'

The 'Low Riders' actor is cast in one of the key human roles for the third installment of the 'Planet of the Apes' reboot.

AceShowbiz - The third installment of "Planet of the Apes" reboot has found an actor for one of its new key human characters. Gabriel Chavarria ("East Los High", "Low Riders") has scored the coveted role in the "War of the Planet of the Apes".

Director Matt Reeves and screenwriter Mark Bomback from the previous installment, "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes", are set to return for the new one. It was originally planned for a 2016 release but it was later pushed back a year to July 14, 2017.

What the threequel might entail is still unclear. Andy Serkis who played a motion-capture role as Caesar, the leader of the apes, in the two previous films may return for the third installment.

The first movie, "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", starring James Franco brought in over $480 million worldwide in 2011. The second one which was supported by Jason Clarke, Gary Oldman, and Keri Russell collected more than $700 million in 2014.
