There have been several rumors about the third installment of "XXX" movie franchise since 2008. The movie, reportedly entitled "XXX: The Return of Xander Cage", seems to finally happen as Vin Diesel teased that he would reprise his role in the action movie and that it would start shooting later this year.

Diesel posted a photo of himself sitting on a sofa while sporting a navy suit. "While I was filming XXX, guys on set called me Air Diesel...," he captioned the photo. Diesel also hinted that the movie would start filming by the end of the year. "The time to return has come. Filming starts December in the Philippines. #ILiveForThisS**t," he added.

In the first film, Diesel starred as an extreme sports enthusiast who's recruited to work as a spy for the government. Although the movie garnered mixed reviews, it performed well enough to get a sequel. However, Diesel didn't return for the second movie. Instead, "XXX: State of the Union" starred Ice Cube as a different character. The movie tanked at the box office, only grossing $71 million globally against a $113.1 million budget.

Ericson Core will direct "The Return of Xander Cage" with a script written by John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris. As of now, the movie has no official release date just yet.

Diesel was seen earlier this year in "Furious 7", reprising his role as Dominic Torreto. He recently wrapped two projects, "The Last Witch Hunter" and Ang Lee's Iraq War drama "Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk". Diesel is also expected to return for "Fast and Furious 8", which will start shooting in 2016 and is slated to be released in the U.S. in spring 2017.
