The '12 Years a Slave' actress is recruited for a major role of Minetta which is rumored to be a version of Marvel's villain, Black Mariah.

AceShowbiz - Mike Colter's Luke Cage may have found his match. Oscar-nominated actress Alfre Woodard ("12 Years a Slave", "Annabelle") is tapped to play a key character named Minetta who, according to Deadline, might be the main baddie on the new series.
Minetta is described as a "powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage's life." Rumor has it, she might be a version of Black Mariah, a nemesis to Luke Cage and another Marvel hero Iron Fist. In the comics, she is a professional criminal and a drug dealer.
Luke Cage is expected to be introduced on "Marvel's Jessica Jones" first before he gets his own solo series. The project is part of a massive deal between Netflix and Marvel which includes "Daredevil" and "Iron Fist" series and culminates in "The Defenders" miniseries featuring all four heroes.
