MTV gives its Moonman a colorful makeover. The network has teamed up with fashion designer Jeremy Scott of Moschino to re-design the statuette for this year's Video Music Awards which will be held on Sunday, August 30.

The updated Moonman features rainbow colors as well as a peace sign necklace hanging from its neck and a pair of Scott's winged Adidas sneakers. The MTV flag it carries is painted with color bars of a television test pattern.

"From the distinct color of the TV color bars, to the peace sign necklace, to Jeremy's signature sneakers, the redesign of statue is part of MTV's long-standing history of bridging the gap between the world of fashion and music," MTV wrote when announcing the new Moonman.

Scott has introduced the new version of the statuette to his Instagram followers. He posted a picture of it on Monday, August 17 and wrote in the caption, "SO SUPER STOKED TO BE ASKED TO REDESIGN AN ICON OF POP CULTURE THAT I ADORE THE MTV VMA MOON MAN IS THE COOLEST AWARD ANY ARTIST COULD EVER WIN AND THE ULTIMATE TO GET TO REIMAGINE !!! #VMA."

The colorful Moonman is also shown in the latest VMA promo starring its host Miley Cyrus, who happens to be one of those high-profile artists Scott has worked with.
