AceShowbiz - The currently-untitled "The Wolverine 3" is obviously underway with Hugh Jackman returning as the clawed mutant. Patrick Stewart recently confirmed that he would be involved in the upcoming movie, reprising his role as Professor Charles Xavier.
Speaking to Collider, the actor gave additional information that he would not appear just as a cameo. He presumably would have a bigger role in the film. "I think what you say is true. There is a project in development. I understand that Professor Xavier will be making more than an appearance, however, and that intrigues me," Stewart said.
The actor also added fuel to the speculation that the upcoming film would follow the 2008 comic book storyline "Old Man Logan", in which Wolverine was in his twilight year. "And the idea of an old Wolverine - I'm really looking forward to Hugh Jackman getting old. You know, damn him. He looks so great! So I'm hoping to see him covered in prosthetics, you know? And then he'll make me look better if that's the case," Stewart jokingly said.
However, what Stewart teased about "Old Man Logan" couldn't be considered as official since the plot details are still scarce. The movie will be the last one in which Jackman plays Wolverine. The veteran actor decided to leave the franchise after portraying the character for 17 years. Directed by James Mangold, the mutant movie is slated for a release in the U.S. on March 3, 2017.
