AceShowbiz - NBC is cutting more ties with Donald Trump, officially firing the business tycoon as the host of "The Celebrity Apprentice". Put in the state of limbo, the reality series will not return to television next season as well.

NBC Entertainment chairman Bob Greenblatt confirmed the news on Thursday, August 13 during TCA press tour. "I think we have every chance of continuing 'The Celebrity Apprentice' with a new host," he said.

But everything was good while it lasted. "He is a lovely guy," Greenblat said. "He was very much a collaborator and worked with us closely on 'Celebrity Apprentice' and, you know, there's a really effusive great guy. We weren't in any sort of adversarial position."

Trump infamously made a comment about Mexican immigrants back in June during his presidential campaign. NBC and Univision canceled the airing of Miss USA pageant which was quickly snapped by Reelz channel.

"I guess people are just, in the political world, looking for somebody who just speaks their mind, regardless of anything else. He does that. Whether you agree with anything he says, he says it without any kind of filter ... there's probably something refreshing about that," Greenblatt commented. "I think at some point, you have to look at the message."
