The new 'Late Show' host ends up looking 'like an idiot' after telling viewers to use their 3-D glasses in a video to promote his CBS show.

Nearing his "Late Show" debut, Stephen Colbert tries to promote his show in movie theaters. In a new promo which apparently was supposed to be in 3-D, the funnyman tells viewers to wear their 3-D glasses, but he ends up disappointed because the budget prohibits them from giving the video a 3-D treatment.

"What? We couldn't afford 3-D? Well now I look like an idiot," Colbert says after announcing the premiere date of his "Late Show". He adds, "Please tell me we still have the CGI dragon." He then screams at a green ball, which serves as a stand-in for the dragon.

The 30-second clip will play in theaters across the country, including AMC, Regal and Cinemark chains, as well as 35 smaller circuits.

The Late Show with Stephen Colbert" premieres Tuesday, September 8 at 11:35/10:35c on CBS. George Clooney was recently announced as the first guest.

While waiting for his show's debut, Colbert stopped by "The Daily Show with Jon Stewart" on Thursday, August 6 to help send off Jon Stewart. He gave a heartfelt tribute to his former colleague, saying, "You were infuriatingly good at your job. All of us who were lucky enough to work with you for 16 years are better at our jobs because we got to watch you do yours." He added that without Stewart, "I'd be back in those hills mining turds with Pappy."
