The first official trailer for Roland Emmerich's drama "Stonewall" has surfaced online. Based on true events, the film centers on the 1969 Stonewall riots, where an LGBT community are outraged after police raids the famous gathering place for gay and transgender individuals.

The trailer opens with a tagline, "For every movement and every injustice, there is a moment that changes history," and continues with the scenes of demonstration by gay individuals where one of them holds a board with the words "Gay is good" written on it.

Jeremy Irvine stars in the film as a homosexual named Dany who, after forced to leave home, joins a gay community in New York City. In his new environment, he befriends Ray Castro (Jonny Beauchamp) who takes him to a gay club. "An organization that fights for gay rights," someone whispers in Dany's ear.

Castro and a group of street kids introduce Dany to The Stonewall Inn to become part of a historical movement for equality where a riot ensues and a crusade for equality is born.

Jonathan Rhys-Meyers, Joey King, Caleb Landry Jones, Ron Perlman, Karl Glusman, Vladimir Alexis, Matt Craven and Alexandre Nachi are also in the cast. Michael Fossat, Marc Frydman, Emmerich and Carsten Lorenz produce the movie while the script is written by Jon Robin Baitz. The R-rated drama is slated to be released in the U.S. on September 25.
