Movie

The 'Edge of Tomorrow' actress will reportedly star as Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel in the upcoming female-led superhero movie.

While Marvel is busy developing some movies for its Phase Three, a new rumor regarding its superheroine movie "Captain Marvel" surfaces. Emily Blunt is rumored to play the titular character in the upcoming movie.

In latest "Meet the Movie Press" episode, co-host El Mayimbe revealed that the 32-year-old star would be a very likely candidate to take the role of Carol Danvers a.k.a. Captain Marvel. Back in April, a report surfaced that the studio wanted Charlize Theron to play the lead female character. However, there has been no confirmation about the casting as of now.

Danvers first debuted in 1968's "Marvel Super-Heroes". She was a U.S. Air Force security chief who is transformed into Captain Marvel following an explosion that involved Kree technology.

Since there hasn't been any director attached to the project, it seems like the studio will look for a director first before they start their casting search. In February, a source suggested that people behind the female-led superhero movie eyed Angelina Jolie to helm "Captain Marvel" following her work in "Unbroken". They reportedly offered her $20 million for the directing job.

Kevin Feige will produce the movie while Nicole Perlman ("Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve ("Inside Out (2015)") are writing the script. "Captain Marvel" is slated for a release in the U.S. on November 2, 2018.

Blunt will next be seen in action movie "Sicario". Last year, she appeared in "Into the Woods" and starred in "Edge of Tomorrow" alongside A-listers Tom Cruise and Bill Paxton.
