The 'Midnight in Paris' director says his much-younger wife loves learning things from him and he enjoys her youth.

AceShowbiz - Woody Allen discussed his relationship with his much-younger wife, Soon-Yi Previn. Speaking to NPR, the 79-year-old actor/director who was usually shy away from interviews opened up on their marriage and addressed the age difference.

"I started the relationship with her and I thought it would just be a fling. It wouldn't be serious, but it had a life of its own. And I never thought it would be anything more," he said. "Then we started going together, then we started living together, and we were enjoying it. And the age difference didn't seem to matter. It seemed to work in our favor actually."

"I'm 35 years older, and somehow, through no fault of mine or hers, the dynamic worked. I was paternal. She responded to someone paternal. I liked her youth and energy. She deferred to me, and I was happy to give her an enormous amount of decision making just as a gift and let her take charge of so many things," he added.

"She flourished. It was just a good luck thing," Woody continued. "She enjoyed being introduced to many, many things that I knew from experience, and I enjoyed showing her those things. She took them, and outstripped me in certain areas that I showed her."

Woody Allen started his relationship with Soon-Yi Previn while he was still seeing her adopted mother Mia Farrow. Their affair led to Woody's breakup with Mia and accusations that he molested Dylan, his adopted daughter with Mia. Woody and Soon-Yi now have two adopted children of their own.

In the past, both Woody and Soon-Yi were adamant that their relationship was anything but fatherly. "To think that Woody was in any way a father or stepfather to me is laughable," She told Time magazine. Meanwhile, he said in a separate interview, "She's probably more mature than I am."
